If anybody’s curious.  The idea is to take art in the public domain and use it for creative effect.  Originally, I was thinking of taking an old Baroque painting and making all the figures characters and telling their stories — completely independent of the life of the painter.  This is actually a long, long tradition in poetry — William Carlos Williams and W.H. Auden did it.  My first inclination, fuelled by one Mr. Jerrod Balzer, was to take a Hieronymous Bosch painting.  Jerrod suggested something to the effect of the figures in one of Bosch’s Hellscapes writing “HELP ME!” notes that magically appear in front of the painting, every night at mid-night.  I really like that idea, and I think I’ll try it out some day, but once I ran into Arcimboldo’s “collage” portraits, my current idea leapt into mind.  Of course, I’m not going to say what it is, other than a book length Bizarro poem.
